Taken from our 10 year class reunion book - July
14-15, 1973:
In Memory
of
Robert Johnson
We all have our separate memories of Bob. Since this should not become a
record of just
my memories, I thought I would discuss one recollection - one that we all
share:
Remember the Five Year Reunion? I remember discussing with
different classmates how
unusual, in view of the Viet Nam War, that our class was still intact. We
had had no deaths. However, we weren't so lucky during the last five years.
Bob Johnson, a very special
classmate, was killed two years later - June 12, 1970.
I remember Bob at the Five Year Reunion. I remember, as many of you will,
getting soaked
on the day of the picnic. I remember Bob playing soccer, baseball and
volleyball in the rain.
I remember ....
I wish to propose to you my fellow classmates,
that we all keep in mind what Bob stood
for - honor, good citizenship, leadership, scholarship, sportsmanship,
friendliness, and
concern for his fellow man.
Thank you ...
Jim Benkovich
President of the Class of 1963
