Dallas Darwin Roy,
70, of Paxton died Monday (June 1, 2009) at Carle Foundation Hospital in
Urbana, IL.
Visitation will be 2
hours prior to the 4:00 p.m. memorial service at Paxton Church of
Christ. The Rev. John Davenport will officiate. A private graveside
service will be held on Saturday (June 6, 2009) at Glen Cemetery in
Paxton.
Mr. Roy was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Windsor, KY, a son
of Erwin and Dorothy Wilson Roy. He married Mildred Vest on May 31,
1958, in Paxton, IL. She died on Dec. 28, 1995. He then married Cheryl
Raum on June 15, 1997, in Paxton, IL. She survives.
Survivors also include his mother, Dorothy Roy of
Paxton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Jim Dahlman of
Johnson City, TN and Barbara and Gary Vance of Loda, IL; four
step-children, Tally Bauer of Newman, IL, Terese (Darby) Robertson of
Morton, IL, Trent Raum of Decatur, IL and Torrie (Andy) Jones of Paxton,
IL; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Kathie and Jerry Houser of
Paxton, Karren Bussey of Nashville, TN and Debbie Payne of Paxton; three
brothers and two sisters-in-law, Murle and Elona Roy, Wickie Roy and Rex
and Linda Roy all of Paxton; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and one
brother, Garrie.
Mr. Roy served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1963. He
was a self-employed carpenter and also was co-owner of Andrew’s Lumber &
Hardware for 8 years. He belonged to the Levis & Lace Square Dance Club
and was an active member of Paxton Church of Christ, where he was
currently serving as Elder, Prairie States Christian Camp and never
wavered in his faith. Mr. Roy was also a long-time member of Paxton
Lodge #416 AF-AM, Ford Chapter #113 Royal Arch Masons, Paxton Council
#129 and Mount Olivet Commandery #38/Knights Templar. He was a Cornbelt
Shriners Clown for 40 years. Darwin loved dancing, golfing, bowling and
camping, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Cornbelt Shrine Club.
